Novels are long prose with a more complex plot, compared to a short story, we usually have chapters which allow us to focus on smaller sections as well as what we call elements of a novel, which is what we are going to focus on in this lesson.

In novels, a literary theme is the central idea or underlying meaning a writer explores in a novel, short story, or other literary work. The theme of a story can be conveyed using characters, setting, dialogue, plot, or a combination of all of these elements.
